Job Description

The responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Clinical and cross‑functional teams to develop disposable products and accessories for the OCS platform
  • Design and develop electromechanical sub‑systems from concept through production
  • Own CAD design, prototyping, testing, and iterative refinement of new product concepts
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians, external design partners, and OEM manufacturers
  • Perform detailed engineering analyses, including tolerance analysis, DFMEA, DOE, and statistical evaluations, to ensure compliance with design requirements
  • Lead injection mold development by managing suppliers, tooling execution, and conformance to specifications
  • Create and release engineering drawings and documentation in compliance with applicable standards, SOPs, and quality requirements
  • Support Verification & Validation (V&V) activities, including protocol development, test fixture design, test execution, and report generation
  • Maintain accurate and complete Design History Files (DHF), including design reviews, reports, and meeting documentation

The Successful Applicant

The successful Senior Mechanical Engineer will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 8+ years of product development experience in a design engineering role
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical lead role developing Class II or Class III medical devices
  • Proven experience developing mechanical or electromechanical products from concept through commercialization
  • Strong analytical skills with experience applying engineering principles to solve complex technical problems
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD
  • Experience supporting Verification & Validation (V&V) and clinical or laboratory testing activities
  • Familiarity with injection molding, tooling development, and supplier management
  • Project management experience; Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
  • Comfortable using power tools and light machine shop equipment
