We are partnered with a well-established general contractor seeking a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager to support a growing pipeline of public construction projects. This individual will lead ground-up builds while managing teams and client relationships across Western and Central Massachusetts.

With decades of experience delivering complex public projects-particularly in the education and municipal sectors-they are known for quality execution, long-term community impact, and consistent growth. Due to a strong backlog heading into 2026/2027, they are proactively expanding their team.

Job Description

  • Lead ground-up public construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and overall execution
  • Oversee and mentor an Assistant Project Manager
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Coordinate with field teams to ensure alignment on schedule, safety, and quality
  • Drive procurement, contract administration, and cost tracking
  • Ensure compliance with public project requirements and regulations
  • Report directly to executive leadership (PX level)

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Project Manager - Ground Up Public Work should have:

  • 5-10+ years of experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager
  • Must have ground-up construction experience
  • Strong background in Higher Education and/or Public Schools (highly preferred)
  • Experience working for a reputable general contractor
  • Proven tenure and stability
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams and deliver complex projects
  • Must NOT currently be operating at a Project Executive level
  • Ability to commute to Springfield, MA or Worcester, MA (fully on-site role)
