Job Description

  • Lead ground-up retail construction projects from preconstruction and procurement through completion and turnover
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, forecasts, cost controls, and overall financial performance
  • Lead and mentor Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and support staff
  • Partner closely with Superintendents to ensure successful field execution
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, scope reviews, buyout, contracts, and vendor relationships
  • Coordinate with owners, developers, architects, engineers, consultants, and trade partners
  • Lead project kickoff, owner, subcontractor, and internal coordination meetings
  • Oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement schedules, and project documentation
  • Identify potential project risks and develop proactive solutions to protect schedule and profitability
  • Manage long-lead procurement and critical-path activities associated with fast-track retail construction
  • Ensure projects meet contractual requirements, quality standards, and safety expectations
  • Provide accurate financial forecasting and project reporting to senior leadership
  • Drive project closeout, punch list completion, turnover, and warranty requirements
  • Develop strong client relationships that contribute to repeat and negotiated business

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of commercial construction Project Management experience
  • Proven experience managing ground-up retail and/or grocery construction projects required
  • Track record of successfully managing multiple or large-scale commercial projects
  • Strong knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and profitability
  • Experience with subcontractor buyout, procurement, contract administration, and change management
  • Strong understanding of fast-track retail schedules and construction sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work
  • Experience leading and mentoring project management teams
  • Excellent client-facing, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, scheduling software, and other construction management platforms preferred
