We partner with utilities, renewable energy developers, municipalities, and industrial clients to design, build, and manage high-voltage transmission and substation projects that improve reliability, safety, and system performance.Job DescriptionProject Leadership & DeliveryLead multi-disciplinary teams in the planning and execution of transmission and substation projects ranging from 69kV to 765kV.Manage projects through all phases including development, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.Establish project execution plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.Ensure projects are delivered safely, on-time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.Monitor project performance using established KPIs and implement corrective actions as necessary.Client & Stakeholder ManagementServe as the primary point of contact for utility, municipal, industrial, renewable energy, and private-sector clients.Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, engineering partners, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.Lead project review meetings, executive status updates, and client communications.Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve project issues effectively.Financial ManagementDevelop and manage project budgets ranging from several million to hundreds of millions of dollars.Track project costs, forecasts, earned value, and profitability.Review and approve invoices, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontractor pay applications.Identify and manage project risks and opportunities impacting financial performance.Support contract negotiations and claims management processes.Engineering & Construction OversightCoordinate engineering activities for substation and transmission projects.Review design progress, technical deliverables, constructability reviews, and engineering change requests.Oversee procurement of major equipment including:Power transformersCircuit breakersDisconnect switchesProtection and control systemsSteel structuresTransmission line materialsSupport construction management teams to ensure safe and efficient field execution.Ensure adherence to utility standards, industry codes, and project specifications.Schedule & Risk ManagementDevelop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent tools.Identify schedule drivers, critical path activities, and project risks.Lead risk reviews and mitigation planning sessions.Implement recovery plans when project performance deviates from established targets.Safety & QualityPromote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with OSHA, utility, and company safety requirements.Ensure project activities meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.Participate in project audits, safety assessments, and quality reviews.Lead lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled, protected veterans and all other qualified applicants.The Successful ApplicantA successful Senior Project Manager - Substation & Transmission should have:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related technical field.Minimum 10+ years of project management experience within the electric utility, power delivery, energy, or infrastructure sectors.Minimum 5+ years managing transmission, distribution, substation, or grid modernization projects.Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams through the full project lifecycle.Demonstrated success managing project budgets, schedules, risks, and client relationships.Strong understanding of utility engineering, construction, and project delivery practices.Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar project management tools.Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.Ability to travel as required to support client and project needs.What's on OfferCompetitive salary ranging from $175,000 to $190,000 annually.Competitive base salaryAnnual performance bonusComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matchPaid time off and holidaysProfessional development and certification reimbursementVehicle allowance and/or travel reimbursement (where applicable)Interested?
