Job Description

  • Manage the full lifecycle of transmission and substation projects from proposal through engineering, procurement, construction support, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Lead projects involving 69kV-500kV transmission lines, substations, switchyards, renewable interconnections, battery energy storage (BESS), and utility infrastructure.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for utility, municipal, renewable energy, and industrial clients.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineers, designers, project controls, and field personnel.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including revenue forecasting, earned value, profitability, and change order management.
  • Coordinate with engineering managers, construction managers, and subcontractors to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans to minimize schedule or budget impacts.
  • Manage contract negotiations, scope modifications, and client deliverables.
  • Conduct regular project reviews, status meetings, and executive reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with company QA/QC procedures, client standards, OSHA requirements, and applicable industry codes.
  • Mentor Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Engineers while supporting career development.
  • Support business development activities including proposals, client presentations, and strategic account growth.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Project Manager - Transmission & Distribution should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of project management experience within electric utility, power delivery, EPC, or engineering consulting environments.
  • Proven experience managing Transmission & Distribution projects.
  • Experience overseeing projects involving 69kV-500kV transmission lines and substations.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning processes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets exceeding several million dollars.
  • Strong client-facing communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Excel, and project financial management tools.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
