This is a field-focused engineering position supporting projects as they move from design into active construction, testing, and commissioning. The Site Electrical Engineer will serve as a technical resource in the field, working closely with contractors, clients, and engineering teams to ensure electrical installations align with the design intent while identifying and resolving engineering challenges that arise during construction.

Job Description

Successful engineers will be able to interpret the engineering behind the design, recognize potential conflicts or constructability issues, understand field constraints, and provide practical technical recommendations when challenges arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret electrical engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Provide onsite technical support throughout construction and help ensure work aligns with engineering design intent
  • Review and respond to RFIs, technical submittals, and contractor questions
  • Identify discrepancies, constructability concerns, design conflicts, and field conditions requiring engineering attention
  • Evaluate issues in the field and provide practical technical recommendations in coordination with the design team
  • Coordinate closely with electrical contractors, other trades, clients, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Participate in construction progress meetings and technical discussions with project stakeholders
  • Support electrical system testing, startup, troubleshooting, commissioning, and turnover
  • Observe construction activities and identify installations that may not conform with drawings, specifications, or project requirements
  • Assist with design modifications and field-driven engineering changes when required
  • Communicate technical issues clearly to both engineering and construction stakeholders
  • Help drive issues to resolution while maintaining project quality and schedule objectives

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline preferred and may be required depending on the specific client/project
  • Significant experience supporting the design and/or construction of complex electrical systems
  • PE license or EIT certification preferred, but not required for all project locations
  • Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, power infrastructure, industrial facilities, utilities, or other technically complex projects strongly preferred
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications while understanding the engineering intent behind the documents
  • Experience reviewing RFIs and submittals and working through design or construction-related technical issues
  • Strong understanding of construction execution and the challenges associated with taking an electrical design from drawings into the field
  • Experience supporting testing, commissioning, startup, or troubleshooting is beneficial
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work directly with clients, contractors, and engineering teams
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound engineering judgment in an active construction environment
  • Willingness to work onsite and travel to project locations as needed
