Job Description

  • Lead estimating efforts for heavy civil, transportation, utility, and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Analyze plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate and competitive project estimates.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, pricing analysis, and risk assessments to support successful bids.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure optimal project pricing.
  • Collaborate with operations, project management, and executive leadership to develop bid strategies.
  • Prepare and submit complete bid packages while ensuring deadlines and client requirements are met.
  • Conduct site visits and pre-bid evaluations to validate scope, constructability, and project risks.
  • Utilize industry-standard estimating and scheduling software, including HeavyBid, Bluebeam, P6, and Microsoft Project.

The Successful Applicant

  • 8-10+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction
  • Proven experience estimating large-scale infrastructure, utility, transportation, highway, pipeline, or municipal projects
  • Strong understanding of construction means, methods, production rates, and project execution strategies
  • Experience preparing competitive bids for complex projects valued in the tens or hundreds of millions of dollars
  • Background with reputable heavy civil, highway, utility, pipeline, or treatment plant contractors
  • Proficient with industry-standard estimating software, preferably HeavyBid
  • Experience with takeoff tools such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or PlanSwift
  • Working knowledge of scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
  • Able to evaluate plans, specifications, quantities, subcontractor pricing, and project risks with minimal oversight
  • Strategic thinker who can help expand the company's capabilities into new markets and larger project opportunities
  • Strong collaborator who works effectively with operations, project management, and executive leadership teams
  • Experience reviewing and developing bid strategies for highly competitive heavy civil pursuits
  • Stable career history with demonstrated commitment and long-term tenure
  • Open to occasional site visits and field engagement to better understand project requirements
  • Looking for a senior-level professional who can immediately add value to a growing estimating team.
