Our client is seeking an experienced construction professional to provide on-site oversight for structural and steel construction activities on complex facility and infrastructure projects. This position will serve as a key field representative, monitoring structural installation, quality, coordination, and progress to help ensure work is completed in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.

Job Description

  • Review structural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and contract documents for compliance and constructability.
  • Monitor daily structural steel erection, installation, and related construction activities.
  • Observe and document steel connections, welding, bolting, decking, embeds, anchor bolts, base plates, and other structural components.
  • Verify structural materials, workmanship, and completed installations meet project requirements and quality standards.
  • Identify field discrepancies, deficiencies, and constructability issues and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders to support resolution.
  • Maintain detailed field reports documenting contractor activities, manpower, progress, quality issues, and corrective actions.
  • Track structural construction progress and quantities and assist with payment application reviews.
  • Participate in construction and coordination meetings with contractors, engineers, clients, inspectors, and testing agencies.
  • Coordinate structural inspections, testing, and quality assurance activities.
  • Support punch list development, corrective work, and project closeout.
  • Provide field leadership and coordination to inspectors, testing agencies, and other project resources.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or a related field, or equivalent construction experience.
  • 10+ years of construction oversight, inspection, field engineering, or superintendent experience.
  • Strong structural steel construction experience, including steel erection, connections, welding, bolting, and structural installation.
  • Ability to effectively read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Experience identifying and resolving structural construction issues in the field.
  • Strong experience coordinating with contractors, engineers, clients, inspectors, and project teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management or scheduling software.
  • Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work onsite and travel as project needs require.



Preferred

  • EIT, PE, CWI, ICC, or other relevant structural/construction certification.
  • Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial facilities, or other large-scale structural steel projects.
  • Familiarity with structural steel quality assurance, inspection, testing, and documentation processes.
  • Experience working in fast-paced construction environments with multiple trades and concurrent work packages.
