Responsibilities include physical design up to 500 kV, electrical system modeling, preparation of specifications and reports, and applying all relevant codes and standards. This role will lead design efforts with minimal supervision and provide technical guidance across multiple concurrent projects.Job DescriptionHigh‑Voltage Substation Physical DesignCreate or modify:Single‑line diagrams and general arrangementsDetailed elevations, section views, and installation detailsBills of materials, bid units, and material countsPerform calculations related to:Equipment and conductor sizingRigid bus strengthInsulation coordinationGrounding and lightning protectionTechnical Tools & SoftwareExperience with electrical system analysis tools preferred (ASPEN, ETAP, SKM, PSS/E, PSLF, CDEGS, WinIGS)Familiarity with design tools preferred (Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, MicroStation)Project CoordinationCoordinate with other engineering disciplines as neededConduct site visits for data gathering and as‑builtsWrite procurement and construction specificationsEvaluate contractor bidsQuality & Construction SupportReview shop drawings and verify conformance with design/specificationsSupport factory acceptance testingProvide field support during construction and commissioningLeadership & MentorshipHelp teach and mentor junior engineers and design staffSupport fee estimates and proposal developmentParticipate in occasional overnight travel for client meetings or site visitsMPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
