They provide reliable energy solutions through investment in grid resiliency, renewable integration, and substation development, offering engineers the opportunity to work on complex, large-scale projects that support critical energy demands.Job DescriptionDesign high-voltage substations ranging from distribution to transmission voltage levels.Develop physical layouts, one-line diagrams, grounding plans, and equipment arrangements.Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical reports.Perform power system studies, including short-circuit, grounding, load flow, and protection coordination analyses.Select and specify substation equipment including transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, CTs, PTs, and bus systems.Review vendor drawings, equipment submittals, and technical documentation.Coordinate with civil, structural, protection & controls, and construction teams.Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management activities.Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and energization phases.Conduct site visits and field inspections to ensure design compliance and project quality.Ensure designs comply with IEEE, ANSI, NESC, NEC, and utility standards.Support troubleshooting and resolution of operational and maintenance issues.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled, protected veterans and all other qualified applicants.The Successful ApplicantA successful Substation Engineer should have:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.3+ years of experience in substation engineering or power delivery projects.Knowledge of electrical power systems, transmission, and distribution infrastructure.Experience with substation physical design and electrical calculations.Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, SKM, or similar engineering software.Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes and industry standards.Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.What's on OfferCompetitive salary ranging from $125,000 to $140,000 annually.Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.Hybrid office and field-based work environment.Travel to project sites, substations, and client locations as needed.Ability to work safely in industrial and outdoor settings.Interested?
