Job Description

The Superintendent will be responsible for:

  • Leading all field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents.
  • Managing and coordinating subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel throughout all phases of construction.
  • Developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules in partnership with the Project Manager.
  • Driving daily construction activities and ensuring work progresses according to project milestones and key deliverables.
  • Reviewing construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings to verify scope, quality, and constructability.
  • Managing RFIs and field coordination efforts to quickly resolve design conflicts and unforeseen site conditions.
  • Conducting daily jobsite walks to monitor progress, quality, safety, and workforce productivity.
  • Leading weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and daily planning discussions.
  • Coordinating inspections with local jurisdictions, third-party agencies, and code officials to maintain project compliance.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and municipal representatives.
  • Enforcing company safety policies and OSHA standards while promoting a proactive safety culture across the jobsite.
  • Identifying potential schedule impacts and implementing recovery strategies to minimize delays.
  • Reviewing and verifying field layouts, dimensions, and installations to ensure work conforms to project requirements.
  • Monitoring subcontractor performance and holding trade partners accountable for quality, schedule, and safety expectations.
  • Overseeing site logistics, material deliveries, equipment utilization, and storage areas to maximize efficiency.
  • Preparing detailed daily reports, progress updates, manpower logs, and project photography documentation.
  • Ensuring all project documentation is maintained accurately and distributed to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with the Project Manager to evaluate schedule updates, change events, budget impacts, and resource needs.
  • Tracking and resolving punch list items while facilitating a smooth project closeout process.
  • Managing startup, mobilization, and jobsite setup activities, including temporary facilities, access points, and logistics planning.
  • Reviewing testing and inspection reports and coordinating corrective actions when required.
  • Anticipating and resolving field challenges before they impact project cost, quality, or schedule.
  • Utilizing technology platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and PDF management tools to support project execution.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional jobsite that reflects company standards.
  • Coordinating material procurement and long-lead items to support uninterrupted project progress.
  • Ensuring subcontractors perform work in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and contractual obligations.
  • Monitoring quality assurance and quality control efforts throughout construction.
  • Serving as the primary field contact for clients and project stakeholders while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Supporting project turnover activities, including final inspections, as-built documentation, owner training, and warranty coordination.
  • Mentoring Assistant Superintendents and field staff while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to improve field operations, productivity, and project outcomes.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as needed to support successful project delivery.

The Successful Applicant

The Superintendent will have:

  • 5+ years of experience leading field operations on ground-up commercial construction projects.
  • Proven success overseeing projects from site mobilization through final turnover and owner occupancy.
  • Strong understanding of scheduling, sequencing, and coordination of all major construction trades.
  • Experience supervising large subcontractor crews while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.
  • Ability to develop and maintain short-interval work plans and look-ahead schedules.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, materials, and best practices.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and coordinate construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Experience managing projects in sectors such as industrial, warehouse, multifamily, healthcare, education, retail, or mixed-use construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve field issues before they impact project schedule or budget.
  • Strong coordination experience with Project Managers, owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to lead subcontractor meetings, safety meetings, and daily coordination discussions.
  • Experience enforcing quality control standards and ensuring work is installed per plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of structural concrete, steel erection, building envelope systems, interiors, and MEP coordination.
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed daily reports, site documentation, and progress records.
  • Experience managing punch list completion, inspections, and project closeout activities.
  • Strong understanding of permitting requirements, municipal inspections, and regulatory compliance.
  • Commitment to maintaining clean, organized, and highly efficient jobsites.
  • Experience reviewing and implementing site logistics, access plans, and material delivery schedules.
  • Ability to effectively manage manpower, equipment, and site resources to maximize productivity.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on schedule while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.
  • Experience working with Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar software platforms.
  • Knowledge of CPM schedules and the ability to identify schedule risks and recovery opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Ability to mentor Assistant Superintendents, Project Engineers, and emerging field leaders.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across all project stakeholders.
