Job Description

  • Develop, optimize, and improve thermoplastic manufacturing and extrusion processes.
  • Lead process development activities for new products and material technologies.
  • Analyze production performance and implement solutions to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput.
  • Design and execute engineering trials, experiments, and validation activities.
  • Support scale-up efforts from research and development into manufacturing environments.
  • Utilize CAD and SolidWorks to create and modify designs, tooling concepts, and process-related equipment.
  • Collaborate with research scientists, manufacturing teams, quality engineers, and project stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process capability, waste reduction, and operational excellence.
  • Manage engineering projects, timelines, technical documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Troubleshoot process challenges and provide technical expertise for manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with thermoplastics.
  • Hands-on extrusion process experience.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of polymer processing and manufacturing principles.
  • Experience supporting process development, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated project management or technical leadership experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Experience with composites, advanced materials, or highly regulated manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to meet requirements associated with defense-related work.
  • Ability to successfully navigate a security clearance review process.
  • Candidates with polymer engineering, extrusion engineering, or advanced materials manufacturing experience will be especially well suited for this opportunity.
