A growing construction and heavy transportation organization is seeking a Transportation Manager to oversee specialized logistics and transportation operations. This position plays a critical role in coordinating oversized and overweight load movements, managing transportation compliance, and ensuring efficient fleet utilization across a variety of construction-related projects.

Job Description

  • Manage day-to-day transportation and logistics operations for a fleet of drivers and trailers.
  • Coordinate oversized and overweight load transportation, including route planning and permit acquisition.
  • Work closely with state, county, and local agencies to secure transportation permits and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee scheduling and dispatch activities to maximize equipment and driver utilization.
  • Collaborate with operations, project teams, and field personnel to support construction and heavy haul transportation needs.
  • Monitor transportation performance, delivery schedules, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with fleet management personnel to ensure equipment availability and readiness.
  • Develop and improve transportation processes, procedures, and compliance standards.
  • Lead and support transportation staff while fostering a safety-first culture.
  • Resolve transportation-related issues proactively and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Transportation Manager should have:

Required

  • Experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, or fleet operations management.
  • Strong understanding of oversized/overweight load transportation and permitting requirements.
  • Experience working with state, county, and municipal transportation regulations.
  • Knowledge of route planning, logistics coordination, and transportation compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.



Preferred

  • Experience supporting construction, heavy haul, crane, infrastructure, or highway-related transportation operations.
  • Familiarity with specialized permitting and escort requirements for oversized loads.
  • Experience leading transportation teams and coordinating with drivers, dispatch, and operations personnel.
