This role is for a true "field leader" who can run healthcare and VA projects from mobilization through turnover-owning schedule, safety, subcontractor performance, and quality outcomes in highly regulated, frequently occupied facilities. You'll be the onsite authority, coordinating phasing, ICRA/ILSM requirements, infection control expectations, and stakeholder communication.

Job Description

  • Lead day-to-day onsite execution for VA/hospital projects (renovations, additions, MEP/infrastructure upgrades, clinical build-outs).
  • Drive schedule adherence, manpower planning, logistics, and phased sequencing in occupied environments.
  • Coordinate and enforce ICRA / ILSM measures, containment plans, dust control, noise control, and shutdown protocols.
  • Manage subcontractors and self-perform teams (if applicable): daily planning, QA/QC, production tracking, and rework prevention.
  • Own field coordination for RFIs, submittals, inspections, testing, and punchlist closeout.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation: daily reports, lookaheads, progress photos, safety and quality logs.
  • Partner closely with the PM team on cost awareness, change events, procurement coordination, and client communication.
  • Champion jobsite safety culture and compliance (OSHA, site-specific requirements, facility standards).
  • Lead turnover activities: commissioning coordination support, closeout documentation, training, and final acceptance.

The Successful Applicant

  • 7+ years of Superintendent experience on healthcare and/or VA construction projects (GC or CM).
  • Strong experience in occupied renovation, phasing, infection control, and stakeholder-driven environments.
  • Working knowledge of ICRA, ILSM, and healthcare-specific compliance expectations (survey readiness mindset).
  • Ability to travel nationwide extensively and lead from the front in fast-moving conditions.
  • Proficiency with project tech (Procore/PlanGrid/Bluebeam or similar) and strong documentation discipline.
  • OSHA 30 preferred (or willingness to obtain quickly).
  • Demonstrated leadership: holds teams accountable, communicates clearly, and builds trust with clients and trade partners.
