About Our Client

Our client is seeking a talented Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution of BIM and VDC processes across complex construction projects. This role will work closely with project teams, trade partners, design consultants, and field operations to drive model-based coordination, improve constructability, and enhance project delivery. This firm does multi-billion dollars of work a year nationwide and has one of the largest workforces in the country.

Job Description



Responsibilities for the Virtual Design and Construction Engineer:

  • Lead and facilitate BIM coordination meetings with project stakeholders, documenting action items and driving issue resolution.
  • Support project teams through model review, clash detection, constructability analysis, and coordination efforts.
  • Manage VDC documentation, file organization, model workflows, and project reporting in accordance with established standards.
  • Assist in the implementation and execution of BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) across assigned projects.
  • Review and support the coordination of RFIs, submittals, and design changes within BIM environments.
  • Generate quantity takeoffs, variance reports, and model-based analyses to support estimating, budgeting, and change management activities.
  • Collaborate with field operations and project stakeholders to identify and resolve constructability challenges.
  • Support project schedules through 4D modeling, sequencing analysis, and production tracking initiatives.
  • Participate in advanced VDC workflows including reality capture, model-based estimating, mixed reality (AR/VR), facilities management integration, and digital project delivery.
  • Evaluate and assist in deploying emerging construction technologies and innovative VDC solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by documenting lessons learned and identifying process enhancements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, consultants, subcontractors, and clients throughout all phases of project execution.

Technical SkillsExperience with the following technologies is highly preferred:

  • Autodesk Revit
  • Navisworks Manage
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
  • AutoCAD
  • Autodesk ReCap
  • Point cloud and reality capture technologies
  • Microsoft Office Suite



Additional experience with the following is considered a plus:

  • Lumion
  • Twinmotion
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Unreal Engine
  • Unity
  • Mixed Reality, AR/VR, and visualization platforms

The Successful Applicant



Virtual Design and Construction Engineer will:

  • Bachelor's degree in Virtual Design & Construction, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in VDC, BIM coordination, construction technology, or a related construction-focused role.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, contracts, schedules, and coordination processes.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, building systems, and VDC best practices.
  • Proven ability to identify project risks, develop technical solutions, and support successful project delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholder groups.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience providing coordination leadership and influencing project teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation tools such as Dynamo and Python is preferred.
