Job Description

Business Development & Growth (Primary Focus)

  • Lead business development strategy for Life Sciences across key markets (especially Raleigh/Durham)
  • Identify, pursue, and win new life sciences, pharma, and cleanroom projects
  • Expand relationships with existing repeat clients while developing new accounts
  • Position the company competitively against top ENR contractors in the space
  • Play a lead role in proposal strategy, client presentations, and deal closing



Operational Leadership & P&L Ownership

  • Own full P&L responsibility for the Life Sciences division
  • Partner with the existing VP of Operations (already in place) to ensure execution excellence
  • Oversee project performance, financial outcomes, and overall division health
  • Ensure alignment with company processes, standards, and delivery model
  • Support scheduling, execution strategy, and complex project delivery where needed



Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead and mentor a core team of ~8 direct reports, with broader influence across regional field and project teams
  • Recruit, attract, and retain top life sciences talent (critical success factor)
  • Build a high-performing, scalable life sciences division
  • Foster a culture aligned with company values: entrepreneurial, collaborative, high-performance



Market Strategy & Expansion

  • Drive geographic growth, with focus on:
    • Raleigh/Durham (primary life sciences hub)
    • Atlanta (HQ and strategic base)
    • Support ongoing major project in Chicago
  • Strengthen the company's brand and presence in life sciences and advanced manufacturing sectors
  • Identify emerging markets and opportunities for expansion

The Successful Applicant

A successful VP of Life-Sciences Construction should have:

  • 15+ years in construction (GC, CM, or Owner's Rep)
  • Proven success in Design-Build delivery
  • Strong background in Life Sciences / Pharma / Cleanroom construction (required)
  • Demonstrated business development success (must have)
  • Experience managing large, complex projects and teams
  • Deep understanding of project financials, scheduling, and operations

What's on Offer

  • Base Salary: $200K - $300K+
  • Bonus: Up to ~50% (discretionary, performance-based, effectively uncapped)
