Job Description

The key responsibilities of the Assistant Controller are:

  • Support the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare balance sheet and P&L schedules and assist with financial statement analysis
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Review journal entries for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation
  • Assist in overseeing general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions
  • Handle day-to-day accounting activities, including invoice approvals, vendor coding, and reconciliations
  • Monitor invoicing and collections to ensure accuracy and timeliness of revenue
  • Support external audits by maintaining documentation and ensuring audit readiness
  • Help develop, improve, and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Contribute to system and process improvements, as well as ad hoc projects

The Successful Applicant



The successful Assistant Controller has:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a retail or similar fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting systems and tools (e.g., Concur)
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience supporting audits and maintaining proper documentation
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
  • Proactive mindset with an interest in improving processes and internal controls
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams
