The Project Executive / Business Unit Leader plays a key role in driving operational excellence, mentoring senior teams, and expanding the firm's market presence.

Job Description

The Project Executive / Business Unit Leader is responsible for the overall direction, execution, and financial success of multiple projects and teams.Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide executive oversight of multiple project teams, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and profitability goals are achieved
  • Own and manage a book of business of $100M+ at any given time
  • Develop and maintain senior‑level client relationships to drive repeat and new business
  • Lead preconstruction and delivery efforts, including constructability reviews, logistics planning, scheduling, and procurement strategy
  • Partner with leadership and business development teams to identify and secure new work
  • Oversee cost control, forecasting, change management, and overall financial performance
  • Ensure consistent execution of company standards related to safety, quality, and risk management
  • Represent the firm within industry organizations, client meetings, and professional networks
  • Mentor and develop project executives, senior project managers, and project leadership teams
  • Utilize modern construction technology and systems to drive efficiency and accountability

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Project Executive / Business Unit Leader is a proven construction leader with strong business acumen and a respected industry reputation.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10-15+ years of experience in commercial construction
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple projects and project teams
  • Proven success managing a $100M+ book of business
  • Strong track record of client satisfaction and profitable delivery
  • Established client and industry network within the DC metro market
  • Background with reputable general contractors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, Primavera Scheduling, and BIM
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and executive‑level communication skills

  • Base salary: $180,000 - $215,000, depending on experience
