This role is responsible for managing full-cycle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing functions within a construction environment. The position requires strong job costing, compliance knowledge, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, in-office setting.

Our client is a privately held construction company supporting both public and private sector projects. They are a growing, family-oriented organization with a small, collaborative accounting team and a strong focus on operational excellence.

Job Description

  • Process and code vendor and subcontractor invoices with accurate job cost allocation
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation
  • Manage subcontractor compliance (COIs, lien waivers, W-9s)
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Oversee AP payment schedules aligned with cash flow needs
  • Prepare and submit customer invoices, including progress billings
  • Track receivables, retainage, and change orders
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Apply payments and maintain accurate financial records
  • Partner with project managers to support billing and documentation

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of experience across purchasing, AP, and AR
  • Prior experience in the construction industry (required)
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting processes and job costing
  • Experience handling compliance documentation (COIs, lien waivers, etc.)
  • Self-starter with a proactive, "go-getter" mentality
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working fully on-site in a collaborative, small-team environment
  • Experience with construction ERP systems (e.g. Trimble Spectrum) is a plus
