We're actively partnering with a growing self-perform, general contractor as they look to add on an additional Project Engineer to their growing team. They specialize in a variety of civil, structural and mechanical construction services for the industrial markets. All projects all local to the Detroit metro market and the client is known for their extremely strong culture and top tier development/training programs.

About Our Client

Our client is a top general contractor located in Detroit, their primary project focus is on commercial, education and pre-engineered metal building construction projects. Due to a strong pipeline, they are immediately seeking an experienced and driven construction project engineer to help lead multiple projects across the Detroit metro area in tandem with project management staff.

Job Description

  • Schedule: 60% in office / 40% on-site


  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion.


  • Collaborate with engineers, owners, and general contractors, etc. to determine the specifications of the project.


  • Assists in master schedule preparation, maintenance and reporting.


  • Knowledge in construction scheduling, and cost & resource loading. This includes developing detailed WBS, milestones, activities definition, logical sequences, durations.


  • Coordinate owner & trade partner meetings. Manage prime contracts and subcontracts.


  • Prepares project status reports and works to ensure work adheres to contract specifications.


  • Reports and documents change to each job including change orders, submittals, change of plan set, changes to work orders due to the change order and any other change to the original contract.


  • Responsible for monitoring materials and work completed to issue pay requests for each job before billing on the due date.

The Successful Applicant

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a Project Engineer working at a known general contractor in the area
  • Well-rounded project experience across commercial and industrial projects
  • Must have above average skills and be proficient at Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel, Project, etc.
  • Procore experience strongly preferred
