Job Description

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for demolition, abatement, site clearing, excavation, and related construction projects.
  • Review project plans, specifications, bid documents, and scope requirements.
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive labor, equipment, material, trucking, and disposal cost estimates.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and disposal facilities.
  • Perform site visits to assess project conditions, access requirements, and potential risk factors.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and recommend cost-saving solutions.
  • Develop bid proposals and participate in project handoff meetings with operations and project management teams.
  • Track estimate performance and analyze awarded projects against forecasted costs.
  • Maintain relationships with owners, general contractors, developers, and industry partners.
  • Stay informed on market conditions, disposal fees, environmental regulations, labor rates, and equipment costs.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Support multiple bids simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of estimating experience within demolition, environmental remediation, heavy civil, excavation, sitework, or related construction sectors.
  • Strong understanding of demolition means and methods, heavy equipment production rates, and disposal logistics.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience completing detailed quantity takeoffs and preparing competitive bid proposals.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, hazardous material handling, and waste management practices is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, but equivalent industry experience will be considered.
