Job Description

  • Design substation physical layouts, grounding systems, and control schemes
  • Perform power system studies (short circuit, load flow, protection coordination)
  • Develop and review design drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Select and specify substation equipment (transformers, breakers, relays, etc.)
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and protection & control engineers
  • Support construction, commissioning, and field troubleshooting activities
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC, IEC)
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and project teams to meet deliverables

The Successful Applicant

A successful Electrical Engineer - Substation should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of substation design or power engineering experience
  • Knowledge of high-voltage systems (typically 69kV-500kV)
  • Familiarity with substation design tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, SKM, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of protection systems and relay coordination
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
