Job Description

  • Reviews construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate cost estimates
  • Calculates quantities, material costs, labor, and equipment requirements for civil projects
  • Develops project budgets, schedules, and timelines during the planning phase
  • Coordinates with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to align project expectations
  • Leads project execution by managing resources, tracking progress, and ensuring milestones are met
  • Monitors costs and makes adjustments to keep projects within budget
  • Identifies risks and implements mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and contract requirements
  • Prepares and submits bids, proposals, and change orders as needed
  • Acts as the main point of communication between stakeholders from pre-construction through completion

The Successful Applicant

  • Strong analytical skills to accurately interpret drawings, specifications, and cost data
  • Proven experience in civil construction estimating, project management, or both
  • Proficiency with estimating software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, MS Project)
  • Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities effectively
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills when working with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Detail-oriented approach to budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Demonstrated leadership and team coordination abilities on active job sites or projects
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify risks and implement practical solutions
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, compliance requirements, and contract administration
