About Our Client

A growing Power & Energy team is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support an expanding Interconnection group. This is a strong opportunity to work on utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, substations, transmission, and other high-voltage power projects across the country.

Job Description

  • Lead and support interconnection and power system studies for utility-scale renewable and high-voltage power projects
  • Perform and review studies using tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, PSLF, ASPEN, PowerWorld, ETAP, SKM, CYME, EMTP, or similar
  • Conduct a range of analyses including:
    • Load flow
    • Short circuit
    • Dynamic analysis
    • Transient studies
    • Renewable model tuning
    • Fault analysis
    • Voltage and frequency ride-through evaluations
    • Grid disturbance and system performance assessments
  • Develop, review, and refine power system and renewable plant models for interconnection applications
  • Support model validation, benchmarking, quality checks, and parameter tuning to align with utility, ISO/RTO, and regional performance requirements
  • Evaluate and support projects across solar, wind, BESS, substations, transmission, and distribution
  • Prepare and review technical deliverables, including:
    • Study reports
    • Design criteria
    • Specifications
    • Study documentation
    • Scopes of work and engineering packages
  • Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and occasional site visits or field walkdowns
  • Support proposal efforts, technical approach development, and estimating for new project opportunities
  • Ensure studies and engineering deliverables align with applicable codes, standards, utility requirements, and internal quality expectations
  • Stay current with regulatory changes, grid codes, ISO/RTO requirements, and evolving standards related to interconnections and inverter-based resources
  • Contribute to improving internal workflows, tools, and methods to streamline studies and engineering efficiency

The Successful Applicant

A successful Interconnection Engineer should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred)
  • Strong experience with interconnection studies and power systems analysis
  • Experience with tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, PSLF, ASPEN, PowerWorld, ETAP, SKM, CYME, EMTP, or similar
  • Experience performing dynamic studies, model development, or renewable system analysis for utility-scale or high-voltage projects
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Power system behavior
    • Inverter-based resources
    • Grid interconnection requirements
  • Familiarity with ISO/RTO processes such as ERCOT, MISO, SPP, PJM, CAISO, or similar is a plus
  • Understanding of standards such as:
    • NERC PRC/MOD
    • IEEE 2800
    • IEEE 1547
  • PE license is a plus, but not required
