We are seeking a Lead Project Engineer - Transmission & Distribution (PE) to join a growing Power Delivery team supporting utility and infrastructure clients across transmission line, substation, and distribution projects. This individual will serve as a technical lead and project driver for high-voltage T&D projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV+, while mentoring junior engineers and interfacing directly with clients and internal leadership.

Job Description

  • Lead engineering execution for transmission line, substation, and distribution projects from conceptual design through construction support
  • Manage technical aspects of projects including scope, schedules, budgets, QA/QC, and client coordination
  • Serve as Engineer of Record for T&D projects when required
  • Oversee detailed design packages including:
    • Transmission line routing and design
    • Substation physical and protection/control coordination
    • Distribution system improvements and upgrades
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, electrical, environmental, and permitting groups
  • Review calculations, drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables for accuracy and code compliance
  • Support proposal development, project planning, and client presentations
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers within the Power Delivery group
  • Maintain strong client relationships with utilities, cooperatives, municipalities, and EPC partners
  • Support construction activities including RFIs, field reviews, and commissioning coordination

The Successful Applicant

A successful Lead Project Engineer - Transmission & Distribution (PE) should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 8+ years of experience within Transmission & Distribution engineering
  • Strong background supporting utility, EPC, or consulting projects
  • Experience with transmission voltages ranging from 69kV to 500kV+ preferred
  • Knowledge of NESC, NEC, IEEE, and utility engineering standards
  • Proven ability to lead projects and coordinate engineering teams
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Experience with utility coordination, project execution, and schedule management
