Job Description

Perform detailed overhead transmission line engineering and design from conceptual through IFC stages
Develop line layouts, profiles, and structure spotting using PLS-CADD
Execute sag-tension analysis, conductor selection, and clearance studies
Perform structural loading analysis for steel poles, lattice towers, and wood pole systems
Support PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER modeling and loading tree development
Coordinate with civil, geotechnical, substation, and construction teams
Review and apply NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and utility-specific standards
Prepare and review:
- Construction packages
- Plan & profile drawings
- BOMs/material lists
- Structure loading documents
- Engineering calculations
Support routing studies, permitting coordination, and constructability reviews
Interface directly with utility clients, EPC teams, and field personnel
Participate in QA/QC and technical peer reviews
Support grid modernization, reliability, and renewable interconnection projects

The Successful Applicant

A successful Overhead Line Engineer should have:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
5+ years of overhead transmission line engineering experience
Strong hands-on experience with:
- PLS-CADD
- PLS-POLE
- PLS-TOWER
- AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
Experience supporting transmission projects from 69kV-500kV+
Strong understanding of:
- NESC compliance
- ASCE loading requirements
- Sag-tension calculations
- Structure spotting
- Conductor and shield wire selection
- Transmission line clearance requirements
Experience working within utility, consulting, or EPC environments
Ability to support multiple concurrent engineering deliverables
