Project Engineer III is a position within the Transmission Department to perform electric utility-related engineering tasks and provide technical expertise to solve design problems under minimal supervision. Engineers are expected to perform a variety of complex tasks, delegating and reviewing routine tasks through Project Engineer I's and II's, as well as Engineering Technician I's and II's.

Job Description

  • Proficiency in RUS and NESC requirements.
  • Design and evaluate transmission and distribution overhead power lines utilizing PLS-CADD software to ensure that the needs of the Client are met in the most economical and effective manner. Models are built from the ground up or are minor revisions to existing models.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  • Support and contribute to a company-wide safety culture by following established safety standards, policies, and best practices, helping to ensure a safe environment for employees, clients, and the public.
  • Prepare sealed engineering plans, specifications, material lists, and labor contracts for utility projects.
  • Assist in the continued development of both Company and Client standards to provide guidelines for future project planning and design.
  • Must interface well with Clients, Vendors, Representatives, and Employees at all levels.
  • Perform field/site visits to design, observe, and inspect projects with a more senior team member.
  • Travel is required for this position on an as-needed basis.

The Successful Applicant

  • B.S. degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering required.
  • 4+ years of applicable experience required.
  • PE required.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD software.
