We are seeking a Power Delivery Designer to support the design and execution of high-voltage transmission and substation projects. This individual will work closely with engineers, project managers, and construction teams to develop detailed design packages for utility and EPC clients. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting substation and transmission projects across multiple voltage classes and thrive in a fast-paced project environment.

Job Description

  • Develop detailed design drawings and construction packages for transmission and substation projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV
  • Prepare substation physical layouts including transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, bus arrangements, grounding systems, and control buildings
  • Support transmission line design projects including routing, structure layouts, plan & profile drawings, and construction packages
  • Create and revise drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, or similar design software
  • Coordinate with engineering, protection & control, civil, and construction teams throughout project execution
  • Interpret engineering calculations, specifications, utility standards, and client requirements
  • Assist with projects involving voltages including 12kV, 34.5kV, 69kV, 115kV, 138kV, 230kV, 345kV, and 500kV systems
  • Support permitting, material takeoffs, and construction documentation efforts
  • Participate in site visits and field verification activities as needed
  • Ensure all designs comply with NEC, NESC, utility standards, and applicable industry codes

The Successful Applicant

A successful Power Delivery Designer should have:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in power delivery, substation, or transmission design
  • Experience supporting utility, EPC, or consulting environments
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar drafting software
  • Knowledge of transmission line and substation design principles
  • Understanding of utility construction practices and electrical layouts
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
