Save Job Back to Search Job Description Summary Similar JobsHands‑on, ownership‑driven roleMake a tangible impact on the businessAbout Our ClientOur client is a New York-based real estate developerJob DescriptionProject Accounting & Financial OwnershipOwn end‑to‑end project accounting for assigned construction projects, including job cost accounting, accounts payable, owner billings, and subcontractor payments.Maintain accurate project budgets, cost codes, contracts, and subcontract records from project setup through close‑out.Prepare and review monthly project reporting, including cost‑to‑complete, forecasted profitability, and cash flow.Proactively evaluate project forecasts and challenge assumptions where costs, timing, or scope appear unreasonable or unsupported.Billing, Draws & Cash FlowPartner with Project Managers to prepare monthly owner payment applications in accordance with contract terms.Review and process AIA G702/G703 requisitions, ensuring alignment between approved scope, billing, and cost‑to‑date.Prepare and support lender and owner draw packages, including backup documentation.Monitor under‑ and over‑billings and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.Contracts, Change Orders & ComplianceMaintain project contracts and commitments; enter and track owner and subcontractor change orders, ensuring consistency between both.Monitor subcontractor compliance with contract terms, including insurance, bonding, lien waivers, and billing requirements.Review vendor activity to ensure all invoices are received, coded correctly, and processed promptly.Month‑End Close & ReportingPrepare and review month‑end journal entries, allocations, and reconciliations related to project costs and billings.Perform cost‑to‑billing reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.Ensure project financial reporting is accurate, GAAP‑compliant, and suitable for senior management review.Partnership & CommunicationServe as a finance partner to Project Managers, providing insight into cost trends, risks, and opportunities.Surface issues early and communicate clearly with Development and Accounting leadership.Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
