Our client is a well-established, family-owned Southern California general contractor with more than three decades of experience delivering technically complex construction projects. The company specializes in Life Sciences, Healthcare, Commercial/Institutional, and Industrial construction, with a particularly strong presence in the Healthcare and Life Sciences markets.

The company operates throughout Southern California with offices in Orange County and San Diego County, and has developed a reputation for technical expertise, disciplined project execution, safety, quality, and long-term client relationships.

The San Diego team has significant experience delivering Life Sciences projects, including work within the region's biotechnology and research community.

Job Description

  • Lead Healthcare and/or Life Sciences construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, and overall financial performance.
  • Coordinate closely with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, procurement, and project documentation.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules while identifying and addressing potential delays or risks.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with all project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project quality, safety, schedule, and cost throughout construction.
  • Work closely with the Superintendent and field team to ensure successful project execution.
  • Manage client relationships and serve as a primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify potential project issues and develop proactive solutions.
  • Participate in preconstruction, estimating, buyout, and project turnover activities.
  • Support business development and client relationship efforts when appropriate.
  • Ensure projects meet applicable regulatory, quality, and contractual requirements.

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of commercial construction Project Management experience.
  • Strong background in Healthcare and/or Life Sciences construction.
  • Experience managing complex projects from preconstruction through completion.
  • Experience with projects in the $10M+ range preferred.
  • HCAI/OSHPD experience is highly desirable.
  • Healthcare experience involving active/occupied facilities, complex MEP systems, laboratories, research environments, or other technically demanding spaces is a plus.
  • Life Sciences experience involving laboratories, cleanrooms, pharmaceutical, biotech, or specialized manufacturing environments is highly valued.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and project documentation.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Procore and/or other construction management software experience preferred.
  • A team-oriented, proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of projects and drive them toward successful completion.
