Job Description

The Project Manager - Secure Federal Projects - Washington, D.C. will be responsible for:

  • Lead construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Manage estimating efforts, proposal preparation, contract negotiations, buyout activities, and procurement strategies.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, monitoring progress and mitigating schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to drive project success and maintain client satisfaction.
  • Administer subcontractor and vendor contracts, purchase orders, and change order processes.
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure safety compliance, quality standards, cleanliness, and overall project performance.
  • Partner with field leadership to develop look-ahead schedules and execute work efficiently.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasting, job cost controls, monthly billings, and vendor payments.
  • Lead project meetings, maintain project controls, and provide clear project documentation and reporting.
  • Secure permits and ensure compliance with contract requirements, local regulations, and client-specific programs.
  • Identify risks proactively and implement solutions to avoid project delays or cost overruns.
  • Oversee project turnover, punch list completion, closeout documentation, and client handoff.
  • Support business development efforts through networking, relationship building, and industry engagement.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and stay current with construction industry best practices.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Project Manager - Secure Federal Projects - Washington, D.C. should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • 4-7 years of construction project management experience, or 10+ years of equivalent experience without a degree.
  • Proven experience managing commercial, institutional, industrial, or government construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of estimating, subcontractor management, self-perform construction activities, and change order administration.
  • Experience developing and managing CPM schedules using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge of construction means and methods, project cost controls, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and client management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software platforms.
  • Ability to work in active construction environments, including climbing stairs/ladders and walking job sites regularly.
  • Clean driving record required.
  • Government contracting experience is highly preferred.
  • OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, CQC Certification, AC, CPC, or PE credentials are highly valued.
