Job Description

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of utility engineering projects from initiation through closeout
  • Develop and manage project scope, defining deliverables, controlling changes, and ensuring alignment with client standards and utility requirements
  • Prepare and manage cost proposals, estimates, project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics
  • Build and maintain detailed project schedules; identify critical path activities, risks, and mitigation strategies
  • Coordinate resource planning and workload allocation across single-discipline engineering teams
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing communication, expectations, and ongoing relationships
  • Lead project meetings with clients, internal teams, and vendors; drive accountability, decision-making, and action-item closure
  • Oversee preparation and submittal of engineering deliverables, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with utility-specific requirements
  • Direct procurement coordination, including vendor selection, bid evaluations, purchase requisitions, and subcontract oversight
  • Monitor project risks, issues, and changes; implement corrective actions to maintain scope, schedule, and budget performance
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes, project controls standards, and safety requirements
  • Conduct site visits, field verification, and construction support coordination as required
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Associate Project Managers and team members assigned to projects
  • Prepare and deliver project status reports to clients and internal leadership, including financials, forecasts, and emerging risks
  • Drive continuous improvement in project execution, processes, and client service delivery

The Successful Applicant

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field
  • PMP certification required
  • 7 or more years of experience in project management, engineering consulting, project controls, or utility-related work (Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage engineering projects independently, preferably within the utility sector
  • Experience with scope development, cost proposals, scheduling, budget control, resource planning, risk management, and procurement coordination
  • Authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship

Desired Skills & Attributes

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, meeting facilitation, and client relationship management skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional internal teams and coordinate vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Familiarity with utility standards, submittal requirements, and QA/QC processes for engineering deliverables
  • Proficiency with project management tools and software
  • Highly organized, accountable, and comfortable making day-to-day project decisions
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement
