We are seeking a highly experienced Construction Safety Manager with a strong background in utility infrastructure, specifically transmission and substation work. This individual will be responsible for overseeing field safety across multiple job sites, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and partnering closely with contractors and project teams to maintain a safe work environment.

Job Description

In this role, you will support complex substation and transmission line construction projects for a recognized industry leader. You'll play a key role in driving site safety performance, identifying opportunities to improve field conditions, and ensuring consistent execution of safety programs across active project sites.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of site-specific safety plans for transmission line and substation construction projects
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments focused on utility construction activities (e.g., energized work, high-voltage environments, heavy equipment, and aerial work)
  • Review project drawings and specifications to proactively identify safety risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Partner with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure adherence to safety standards and best practices
  • Perform routine field inspections and safety audits across active transmission and substation sites
  • Deliver safety training, orientations, and toolbox talks tailored to field personnel and subcontractors
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA and all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and third-party safety consultants as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation including incident reports, training logs, and inspection records

The Successful Applicant

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in construction safety, with a strong focus on substation and transmission line projects
  • Professional safety certification (CSP, CHST, OHST, or equivalent) preferred, or equivalent field experience
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and safety regulations as they apply to utility and high-voltage construction environments
  • Proven ability to identify hazards, perform risk assessments, and implement effective mitigation strategies
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence field teams and contractors
  • Demonstrated ability to manage safety across multiple active job sites
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to maintaining high safety standards
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
