Our client is a leading employee-owned engineering and architecture firm expanding its Texas construction team following several major data center project awards. The firm delivers complex mission-critical projects from design and preconstruction through commissioning and turnover.

Job Description

  • Serve as the owner's field representative and primary interface between the client, engineer of record, general contractor, trade partners, commissioning authority, and testing agencies.
  • Review IFC drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, equipment data sheets, RFIs, method statements, inspection and test plans, and sequence-of-operations documents.
  • Verify field installations comply with approved submittals, contract documents, applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and project quality standards.
  • Oversee installation of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, including utility service, substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, ATS/STS equipment, PDUs, RPPs, busway, grounding, bonding, and lightning protection.
  • Monitor mechanical systems including chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, air-handling equipment, pumps, heat exchangers, hydronic piping, fuel systems, and associated controls.
  • Verify coordination and integration between electrical, mechanical, fire-protection, BMS, EPMS, life-safety, and controls systems.
  • Monitor daily construction progress, manpower, equipment installation, material deliveries, field productivity, schedule milestones, and critical-path activities.
  • Maintain detailed daily reports, progress photographs, quantity records, issue logs, inspection documentation, and field observations.
  • Identify nonconforming work, initiate or track NCRs, document deficiencies, and verify corrective actions.
  • Review contractor progress, installed quantities, schedule updates, change requests, and payment applications.
  • Lead or participate in daily coordination meetings, owner-architect-contractor meetings, pull-planning sessions, and commissioning meetings.
  • Coordinate inspections, hold points, testing activities, energization plans, shutdowns, and equipment startups.
  • Support L1-L5 commissioning, including factory witness testing, equipment receipt verification, prefunctional checklists, startup, functional performance testing, load-bank testing, and integrated systems testing.
  • Review commissioning scripts, test procedures, deficiency logs, trending data, and final reports.
  • Witness electrical testing such as insulation resistance, ground resistance, torque verification, relay testing, breaker testing, and power-quality validation.
  • Witness mechanical testing such as flushing, pressure testing, TAB, equipment startup, controls validation, and performance testing.
  • Review punch lists, redline drawings, as-built documentation, O&M manuals, training records, warranties, and turnover packages.
  • Provide technical direction to field inspectors, special inspectors, testing laboratories, and other construction support personnel.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Construction Field Representative - Data Centers should have:

  • 10+ years of construction oversight, field engineering, inspection, commissioning, superintendent, or construction-management experience.
  • Experience delivering data centers, semiconductor facilities, healthcare facilities, advanced manufacturing plants, or other mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, construction sequencing, testing, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Experience representing an owner, developer, engineering consultant, or construction-management firm.
  • Ability to interpret one-lines, riser diagrams, P&IDs, equipment layouts, control diagrams, sequences of operation, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Knowledge of applicable NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, IEEE, OSHA, and local code requirements.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, NCRs, change documentation, inspection records, and commissioning deficiencies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, construction technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent construction experience will be considered.
  • Ability to work full-time at active construction sites and travel based on project requirements.
