About Our Client

Our client is seeking a hands-on HR professional to serve as the primary Human Resources leader for a manufacturing facility in Devens, Mass. This individual will partner closely with site leadership to drive employee engagement, provide HR guidance across the employee lifecycle, support labor relations, and help shape a positive workplace culture. This role offers significant visibility and ownership, serving as the sole on-site HR resource while collaborating with a broader HR team across multiple locations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys building relationships on the floor, and can confidently balance employee advocacy with business priorities.

Job Description

  • Partner closely with plant management as a trusted HR advisor on business and workforce decisions, while also serving as a liaison and advisor to employees at our Devens location.
  • Responsible for the staffing process by proactively and continually sourcing, interviewing, developing, and maintaining an effective candidate pipeline and network of talent to fill Devens Plant positions. Involved in all aspects of the hiring process: sourcing applicants, participating in interviews, processing background checks, and conducting new employee orientations.
  • Partner with line managers to resolve employee issues and provide guidance related to employee conflict resolutions.
  • Timecard and payroll review for plant.
  • Advise, guide and support employees in areas of policy, procedure, and employee relations. Investigate employee issues and recommend appropriate action.
  • Participate in the development of company policies and make sure they are administered fairly and consistently throughout the area of responsibility.
  • Partner with plant management to identify, recommend, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within HR processes, policies, and practices that support the facility's safety, quality, and productivity goals.
  • Closely collaborate and effectively communicate within the department and with other HR team members at other locations, working together to share best practices and drive continuous improvement across the HR function.
  • Assist Plant Management in union contract interpretation and administration. Act as the second step in the grievance procedure process. Participate in CBA negotiations.
  • Workday Administration - Responsible for all transactions of the Workday system for local HR, including entering new hire and termination data and maintaining the accuracy of all employee data files.

The Successful Applicant

· Bachelor's degree plus 3+ years of Human Resources experience in a union environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

· HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) a plus.

· Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee relations, performance management, succession management, engagement, workforce planning, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and applicable federal and state employment laws.

· Comfort using AI-enabled HR technology and digital tools (e.g., Workday, applicant tracking systems, and generative AI applications) to support recruiting, reporting, and administrative efficiency, along with the ability to quickly learn new HR systems.
