About Our Client

We're partnering with a top-tier engineering organization seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to lead the design and execution of high-voltage transmission projects. This is a technical leadership role responsible for guiding junior engineers, owning complex design work, and driving projects from concept through construction.

Job Description

  • Lead the design of high-voltage transmission line projects (typically 69kV-500kV+) from routing and conceptual design through detailed engineering and construction support
  • Serve as the technical lead on complex projects, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance across all deliverables
  • Perform and oversee advanced engineering analyses including conductor selection, line performance, EMF, impedance, losses, and voltage drop
  • Direct routing studies, structure spotting, and line layout while supporting cost estimating and constructability reviews
  • Interpret and apply NESC, NERC, FERC, and other applicable industry standards and ensure designs meet all regulatory requirements
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, calculations, and models (PLS-CADD and related tools)
  • Provide technical mentorship and oversight to junior engineers and designers; review work and elevate team performance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with substation, civil, and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution
  • Support procurement activities including specifications, bid evaluations, and vendor coordination
  • Participate in construction support, including field inspections, issue resolution, and design adjustments as needed
  • Contribute to project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and change management

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Transmission Line Engineer (PE) - High Voltage should have:

  • 8+ years of transmission line engineering experience within the T&D space
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license - required
  • Strong experience with high-voltage transmission design (69kV and above)
  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers
  • Advanced proficiency with PLS-CADD (required) and familiarity with tools like MFAD, LPILE, or similar
  • Working knowledge of power system analysis tools (ETAP, CYME, or equivalent is a plus)
  • Deep understanding of industry codes and standards (NESC, NERC, FERC)
  • Experience with line routing, structure design coordination, and construction support
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface with clients, vendors, and internal teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate with minimal supervision
