We are seeking a Transmission Line Designer for a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting major utility transmission projects. This individual will work alongside engineers, project managers, and utility clients to develop detailed transmission line design packages for overhead and underground systems.

Job Description

  • Prepare transmission line design packages for overhead and underground utility projects
  • Support transmission line projects ranging from 69kV to 765kV
  • Develop:
    • Plan & profile drawings
    • Structure assemblies
    • Foundation details
    • Conductor and hardware layouts
  • Utilize PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and related utility design software
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and utility clients throughout project execution
  • Assist with route selection, structure spotting, and line optimization
  • Ensure designs comply with:
    • NESC
    • Utility standards
    • Client specifications
    • Industry safety requirements
  • Support field investigations, constructability reviews, and design revisions as needed
  • Maintain project schedules and support multiple active projects simultaneously

The Successful Applicant

A successful Transmission Line Designer (Contract-to-Hire) should have:

  • Strong technical knowledge of transmission line design and associated software tools.
  • Educational background in engineering, drafting, or a related field.
  • Experience in the energy and natural resources industry is highly preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in the industry.
