Client’s Need 

Pharmaron is a contract research organization (CRO) and premier R&D service provider for the life sciences industry, with locations in China, UK, and the US.  

Their Chief Business Officer (CBO) was looking to hire talent for 6 positions within the Business Development team, responsible for growing sales across Pharmaron’s services. The CBO was keen to connect with candidates who not only possessed business acumen and interpersonal skills, but also Discovery experience in the biotech or biopharma industries. Pharmaron’s capabilities are constantly developing, and their hiring needs are everchanging. In this scenario, they were open to exploring different candidate profiles. 

Solution 

Michael Page’s Boston-based Life Sciences team advertised the six roles to its national database of candidates with the technical and soft skills required for the roles. To expand the search, the team also reached out to its global network of specialized Life Sciences recruiters, inviting referrals of candidates whose profiles matched Pharmaron's requirements.  

Michael Page stayed responsive and agile throughout the recruitment process, incorporating Pharmaron’s feedback on the candidates to build a robust shortlist across the various roles. Once the shortlist was pulled together, the team assessed the candidates' skills against the agreed core competencies and fit with Pharmaron’s science-driven culture. The relevant candidates progressed onto the interview stage with the CBO.
