This CT based law firm has been specialized in trusts and estates for over 100 years. This is an onsite position.

Job Description

  • Identify, collect, analyze, abstract, organize and maintain facts and documents, including wills and trust documents, in accordance with compliant legal practice and procedure
  • Identify, collect, analyze, abstract, organize and maintain financial statements and spreadsheets relating to client investments
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and personnel, inside and outside the firm to obtain and clarify information necessary to substantiate facts, identify documents and support legal actions.
  • Organize and maintain information, records and documents supporting legal actions.
  • Develop, implement and maintain tracking and accounting systems for client investments facilitating preparation of United States trust tax returns
  • Prepare federal Form 706, United States Estate (and Generation-Skipping Transfer) Tax Return and applicable state estate tax returns
  • Prepare federal Form 1041, United States Income Tax Return for Estates and Trusts and applicable state fiduciary income tax returns
  • Prepare United States Income Tax Returns for Partnerships and Non-Profit Organizations
  • Prepare Trust and Estate probate accountings
  • Prepare related filings and analysis for all accountings and returns
  • Execute Trust and Estate administration
  • Track deadlines to assure returns and accountings are filed timely or extended when applicable

The Successful Applicant

A successful Fiduciary Accountant should have:

  • 5-10 years of experience as a fidutiary accountant or trust and estates paralegal
  • Familiarity with federal Form 1040, United States Individual Income Tax Return and state individual income tax returns and preparation.
  • * Familiarity with federal Form 709, United States Gift (and Generation-Skipping Transfer) tax returns.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and tools.
