The Payroll Director will lead and oversee a complex, multi-state payroll function for roughly 1,000 employees. The position will oversee payroll operations utilizing Workday Payroll and an outsourced payroll vendor, ensuring strong system integration, process optimization, and regulatory compliance.

Job Description

  • Lead and manage all aspects of payroll operations, including processing and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Oversee payroll tax filings and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to streamline payroll processes.
  • Manage relationships with external payroll providers to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Maintain payroll systems and update them with necessary changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the payroll team, fostering a culture of accuracy and efficiency.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Payroll Director should have:

  • 10+ years of extensive experience of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Recent experience in processing payroll through Workday (3+ years minimum).
  • Prior leadership experience with the ability to manage and guide a team effectively.
  • Multi-state payroll experience processing for at least 500 employees.
